PUERTO VALLARTA RENTAL CARS
If you are like thousands of
other people each year, and are staying at one of the fines
resorts in the Puerto Vallarta area, you're probably staying
in in Mismaloya,
Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerias, or Punta Mita. All these locations
are at least a $15 taxi ride each way. If this sounds like
you, a rental car may be
an option you want to explore. All the major rental car
companies are represented at Puerto Vallarta Airport,
including
Dollar Rent A Car,
Budget Rent A Car,
Thrifty Car Rentals, and
Enterprise Rent-A-Car. You can also search the box below.

RENTING A CAR IN
PUERTO VALLARTA
RULES OF THE ROAD
Most of the rules of the road in Puerto
Vallarta are the same as at home. You drive on the right
side of the road, but the major difference you'll notice is
that to turn left, you need to go onto the RIGHT shoulder of
the road or the right lane. It's strange to get used to,
but just watch others and you should be fine.
INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Insurance is required to rent a
car in Puerto Vallarta. Your insurance from home will
not work. Check with your credit card company, because
most credit card companies will cover you for theft and
collision if you make your reservation using them. You
can also check with your insurance agent at home because they
may be able to offer you an international waiver for less cost
than the rental car insurance. Otherwise, you'll need to
accept the insurance offered you by the rental car company.
DRIVING DISTANCES
If you're staying in Nuevo Vallarta, you'll
find that it's about 20 minutes drive into Puerto Vallarta.
From Bucerias, it's about 30 minutes. From Mismaloya, 15
minutes, and from Marina Vallarta about 10 minutes. A
cab ride from Bucerias into town is about $20 each way, while
from Nuevo Vallarta it's about $15.
